As UiTM embarks on strengthening its global agenda, the Office of International Affairs (OIA) took the initiative to form a buddy system to assist in coordinating and facilitating
OIA’s internationalisation activities. The group of volunteers underwent rigorous selection and interviewing processes; 60 students from various faculties at UiTM Shah Alam and other UiTM campuses were then selected. When it was formed in 2015 the student volunteers were initially called OIA Buddy; later in 2019, they were rebranded as UiTM Global Ambassadors or UGLAM to reflect a better representation of the roles that they hold. They were no longer limited to just assisting international students adjust to life in Malaysia, but also hold a more crucial role as ambassadors of UiTM.
