If you are currently in Malaysia, you have overstayed and will be subject to penalties imposed by the Immigration Department of Malaysia, which include detention and a fine.

If you are currently outside Malaysia, do not re-enter Malaysia as a tourist via a social pass. You may be required to apply for a new student pass prior to entering Malaysia.

The APPROVAL of renewal is subject to:

• All required fees (tuition fee/residential college fee) is paid within the stipulated time according to Academic Calendar and/or residential agreement date.
• Passport – student passport should have at least 18 months (1 ½ years) validity.
• Attendance – student must have an attendance of equal or more than 80%.
• Academic results – the student’s status must be SM (in progress) if you are a research student or/and achieving a minimum CGPA of 3.00.

For existing student in Malaysia, the student visa renewal application must be submitted to ISD visa team 90 days before the visa expiry date. You must have valid insurance before renewing your student visa.

The student visa renewal process takes around 4-6 weeks upon receipt of a complete application and payment; provided all the requirements are met within the stipulated timelines.

Generally, the renewed student visa will be valid for 12 months.  However, the approved duration by the Immigration Department of Malaysia may vary depending on your attendance and academic record.

If your application of student visa is rejected Immigration/EMGS, you are required to defer your studies and return to your home country.

Yes, however your current student visa would need to be cancelled by the Immigration Department of Malaysia.

YES. You are required to apply for a new Student Visa for the new programme. You MUST cancel the current Student Visa once you have received the Letter of Offer in order for the University to submit a new application form to the EMGS.

Please note that you are NOT ALLOWED to stay in Malaysia longer than the duration of your programme. If you fail to complete the programme within the given time, you are required to request for a Supporting Letter from the Faculty that explain on the need for Student Visa extension.

Final decision on the period of extension will be made by the EMGS/Immigration. If the reason is acceptable, EMGS will approve the application and issue a shorter period of Student Pass (instead of 12 months), with a FINAL stamp stamped on the pass.

YES. You are required to cancel the Student Visa once you have completed your studies. Please submit the Letter of Completion, your original passport and the necessary documents to the ISD Visa Team for the cancelation of the Student Visa.

You need to lodge a police report immediately. You will then be required to submit a copy of the police report to the ISD Office to apply for a new iKad. Please note that there will be a fee charged for the issuance of a new iKad.

1. You must lodge a report at the nearest police station within 24 hours.
2. You need to apply for a new passport at the relevant Embassy or Consulate in Malaysia. You will be required to produce the police report.

• After obtaining your new passport, you can apply for a transfer of endorsement (i.e., getting a copy of your current student pass sticker onto your new passport).
